Stanley Awurum is edging close to the top scorer in the Portuguese Segunda Liga after scoring his side lone goal in their 1-0 win over Vitoria Guimaraes.

The 25 year old Nigerian is now on 12 goals for Varzim just two goals behind top scorer Platiny who is on 14 goals although analyst rank his tally more impressive as none of his goals came via penalties,

Platiny of Feirense who is the top scorer have scored five penalties and many believed Awurum would have been home and dry with the top scorer award if he was interested in taking penalties.

In his last six games he has found the back of the net four times and his form have lead to speculations that even if Varzim fails to gain promotion the 25 year old will play top flight football next season.
