Nigeria youth international Taiwo Awoniyi in his first interview after his league debut for German second division side FSV Frankfurt has spoken of his delight to owngoalnigeria.com.

The 18 year old joined FSV Frankfurt in the summer on loan from English Premiership side Liverpool who farmed him out to help him gain match experience and get game time.

However despite making his debut for the team in a cup game against Hertha Berlin last year, the lanky forward had to wait for six months before making his debut in the league helping his team to a 3-1 win.

FSV Frankfurt victory over St.Pauli ended their run of four games without a victory and pushed them up to 15th on the 18 team second division German League table.

Awoniyi had a memorable debut even though he didn’t score as he was a threat all game long to the backline of St.Pauli and gave the pass before the assist that lead to their first goal.

“Have waited for this for a long time since I joined, immediately after signing but I kept on believing and knowing my time will come” He told owngoalnigeria.com.

“I give God the glory for making it happen and am happy we won on my debut” He concluded.
