The last is yet to be heard about the new qualifier date for Nigeria against Egypt AFCON 2017 game schedule to take place in Kaduna as Egypt claim they are yet to receive notification from Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) about the new date.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) on Saturday announced that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved delaying the upcoming qualifier against Egypt which Nigeria host.

According to the NFF, the game was supposed to take place 23 March and is now confirmed for 26 March, only three days before the scheduled second-leg in Egypt.

However the Egyptian FA yesterday posted words from one of their board member, Ehab Lehitah who claimed they are yet to be officially informed by CAF and they are going ahead with their plans for the game with the 23rd of March at the back of their mind and not 26th.

“No official letters have been received yet regarding the Nigeria-Egypt game’s rescheduling and we’ll announce when we get confirmation,” the association board member Ehab Lehitah said on the EFA official website.

“Egypt will start a training camp ahead of the qualifiers on 23 February, four days before they play Borkina Faso friendly in Borg El-Arab Stadium, Alexandria,” Lehitah added.

As revealed by owngoalnigeria.com, the new date favours Nigeria as the Pharaohs will suffer a heavy schedule, especially as most key players from Ahly and Zamalek clubs have other African commitments between 18-20 March, a week before the two-leg national teams clash.

The Pharaohs are on top of Group G of the Nations Cup qualifiers with a six points from wins over Tanzania and Chad while Nigeria are second on four points.
