The proposed meeting between the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle and Moritz Jenz who was on loan from Wolfsburg to fellow Bundesliga side Mainz 05 couldn’t hold due to the wedding plans of the 26 year old, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Chelle spoke with the defender who was born in Germany to a Nigerian father and German mother, making him eligible to play for the Nigerian national team. The pair discussed on the possibility of having him make a u-turn on his decision to wait for a senior call up to the German national team.
They were plans for them to meet in the summer , but it was shelved as Jenz picked his wedding date to coincide with his off season break, and he is presently on honeymoon just in time before the resumption of pre season training.
Last season he made 19 appearances in the German Bundesliga and Chelle sees him as an option in his his to refresh the ageing defence of the Nigerian team. A new date for them to meet hasn’t been agreed as at the time of this report.

The signs are that Jenz is so far showing interest in the project of the Nigerian team, and will give it a serious thought because he has little or no chance of playing for Germany. He hasn’t been capped by either country at any level.
