Hoffenheim forward Gift Orban is keeping alive his dream of playing for the senior national team of Nigeria despite a claim by Togo that he isn’t eligible to play for Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Orban claimed he was born in Nigeria to a Nigerian father but raised in Togo by his mother who is a Togolese, making him eligible to represent the Super Eagles, and he got a call up once for the dead rubber AFCON qualifiers game against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo.
Before the game a report came out in the Togolese media that he isn’t eligible for Nigeria, after representing them in a qualifier for the CHAN championship under a different name and age totally different from the one he is using presently.
The allegations made former coach Jose Peseiro to keep him away from the team during his spell as coach , and now with Eric Chelle at the helm he has once again demonstrated his love for the Super Eagles.
He posted a video of himself in a Super Eagles kit keeping fit on holiday after a successful completion of his first six months in Germany with Hoffenheim, following his move in the January transfer window from Ligue 1 side Lyon.
