The director of communication of the Russia Football Federation (RFU) has revealed the number of spectators that will be allowed in the Luzhniki Stadium when they take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly game on Friday, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Kirill Tereshin who oversees the RFU Department of Events and Marketing Communications, said that the number of spectators at the friendly match between the Russian and Nigerian national teams at the Luzhniki Stadium will be limited.
“ The commercial capacity of Luzhniki for the match between the Russian and Nigerian national teams will be the same as on June 1 – 59 thousand spectators , ” RIA Novosti quotes Tereshin as saying.
He however gave no reason why they have decided to limit the number of spectators for the game at the stadium which has a capacity to take as many as 81,000 spectators.
Super Eagles will play the suspended nation as party of their preparation for the resumption of the world cup qualifiers in September, with head coach Eric Chelle keen on using the game to help the players get use to his style and demands.
Russia on the other hand have nothing to play for as they are still suspended by world football governing body FIFA over their country’s invasion of Ukraine, they are however allowed to play ceremonial games although it won’t be recognized or used by FIFA in its ranking.
