Former Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi was an unused substitute as his team dropped down to the Italian Serie B following a 1-2 defeat to Verona in their final game of the Serie A season, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Capped 13 times by Nigeria, he hasn’t been involved with Nigeria since 2022, no thanks to injury and fitness issues since 2018. He joined Empoli three seasons ago and was making his way back to his best, but injury struck towards the end of last season .
A star for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup, Ebuehi returned to full fitness one month ago from an anterior cruciate ligament injury making just four appearances this season.
He was hoping to have more game time next season, but that won’t be happening as he will leave the club when his contract expires on the 30th of June. His next destination will be made clearer in the coming days.
