The agent of Rangers of Scotland forward Cyriel Dessers says his client deserve another chance to prove himself in the Super Eagles shirt in the upcoming Unity Cup in England, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
30 year old Dessers is leading the way among all Nigerian forwards in Europe this season with 28 goals this season from a total of 54 games in all competitions. A form that hasn’t been rewarded with a senior call up.
Dessers has never played in a competitive game for Nigeria with all of his six caps coming in friendly games, where he has two goals. His last appearance was the 0-2 loss to Mali in March last year. The then coach of Mali Eric Chelle is now in charge of the Super Eagles.
Ahead of the team’s campaign in the Unity Cup, where they will be without several top players his agent believes this is the time for him to stake a claim in the tournament, where they will be up against Ghana and the winner between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago in the other game of the tournament.
” You have to make good use of every opportunity and this should be his time because he is coming into the end of the season with a run of goals that hasn’t happened before now. We wait and see how it all goes with the new coach”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
