Real Sociedad have made a u-turn on the future of Nigeria international forward Sadiq Umar who is having a splendid time on loan to fellow LaLiga side Valencia, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
He joined Valencia in the January transfer window and has scored five goals in 13 games since his move, Including a stunning back heel goal which was voted as the goal of the month in the LaLiga.
Valencia hold an option of making the deal permanent at the end of the loan, but before they can trigger that option they will need to reach a compromise from Sociedad, who have now decided against any imminent departure of the 28 year old with coach Imanol Alguacil leaving the club at the end of the season.
The long serving coach was largely responsible for the limited game time the Nigerian got at the club after his return from an ACL surgery. He will be replaced by one of his assistants in Sergio Francisco who has demanded for Sadiq to be a part of his team at least for pre season before a decision is taken.
His demand has slowed down the plans of Valencia who have been pushing for the player to agree to a permanent deal at the end of this season, and also bring to a half plans by an unnamed Qatari side who are willing to pay his €30m release clause.
