Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle will be among the spectators when the Nigeria U20 team take on Kenya in their final group game in the ongoing U20 AFCON in Egypt, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Led by coach Aliyu Zubairu the Nigerian team won their opening group game against Tunisia 1-0 before drawing 0-0 with Morocco in their second game. They will take on Kenya for a place in the quarter final of the tournament, which serves as qualifiers for the U20 World Cup.
Flying Eagles need to be in the semi final to book a spot in the next world cup, and Chelle will be looking out for players who have the potential to be a part of the senior team in the future, especially if he stays for the entire duration of his two years deal which could be triggered if he qualifies for the world cup.
Chelle is not the only new face that will be keeping a close watch on the Nigerian team with scouts from top European countries also on ground to run the rule on certain players of the Nigerian team. The scouts are majorly from teams in the French Ligue 1 and also Spanish LaLiga.
