Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy hasn’t shut the door on playing for Super Eagles despite turning down an initial approach from new coach Eric Chelle, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Murphy who was born in England to parents of Nigerian descent was said to have turned his back on playing for Nigeria, and willing to wait for his chance with England where he hasn’t been capped at any level.
That report isn’t entirely true as the 30 year old requested for talks to be held in the summer over his international future, even though England holds the ace in the race to get him capped.
Chelle will use the four team tournament in England in May to set up a meeting with the winger who has 7 goals and ten assists this season in the English Premier League for Newcastle United in 28 matches.
Sources say Chelle will attempt to convince him on how he fits into his setup, and could be instrumental as they bid to qualify for the world cup next year, which will no doubt put a gloss on his career that picked up late.
