Head coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle will at the end of the month draw up the list of players who will represent Nigeria at the four teams tournament in England in May, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Chelle will use the games to try out some new players, but will maintain the core of the players he hope to use in building a team for the world cup qualifiers when it resumes in September.
One area where the coach is very worried about is the area of a top striker to act as back up to main striker Victor Osimhen, who has been carrying the goal scoring burden of the team in the qualifiers with three goals in their last two games.
One of the players he has been told to give a chance is 22 year old Viktoria Plzen forward Rafiu Durosinmi, who recently returned from a one year injury lay off and has scored seven goals with four assists in 14 games.
Durosinmi saw a high profile move to German side Eintracht Frankfurt broke down due to the injury picked up a few days before his medicals with all terms already agreed. He is now said to be heavy on the radar of Italian Serie A side Lazio for a summer transfer.
” I think only Osimhen is better than him in terms of conversation rate. With all due respect to Victor Boniface I don’t think he is even as good as Durosinmi in front of goal, maybe Sadiq Umar is more experienced”, top African scout Muktar Bilal told OwnGoalNigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
” A lot of people will say he has to do it in a big and better league and I don’t argue against that but that is for his agent whom I don’t know to do. Let’s see what will come out of the links to Lazio. He is such a top player in the making”, he concluded.
