Coach of the senior national team of Benin Republic Gernot Rohr says players of the senior national team of Nigeria will be happy if his team defeats South Africa in Tuesday’s world cup qualifiers game, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Rohr who was coach of the Super Eagles for over five years will lead his team out against the group leaders, five days after letting a two goal lead slip to draw 2-2 against Zimbabwe.
They will be playing at their adopted home ground in Cote d’Ivoire , and according to Rohr games in the group requires all teams to win their remaining games to keep their chances of making it to the world cup.
Nigeria will at the same time be up against Zimbabwe at their home ground in Uyo, smarting from their first win in the qualifiers after a 2-0 win away to Rwanda on Friday. Rohr sees the group as one that no team can afford to lose any game now.
” The group is very close with South Africa two points ahead of us and three more than Rwanda. You have Nigeria who have gotten their first win also behind us. I really think we have to beat South Africa because every team in the group has to beat the other team”, he said.
• Nigeria will definitely go all out to win against Zimbabwe, who will as expected fight to stay in the race. My former players will want me to beat South Africa and it’s the same for all teams playing on Tuesday in the group”,.
