The top striker of the senior national team of Nigeria Victor Osimhen has revealed the content of his discussion with the newly appointed head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle ahead of the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Osimhen will be making in his debut in the qualifiers after missing the first four games of the team due to injury, and in those games they failed to win. A run that saw them drop to 5th in the six team group.
Nigeria will head into the games which are crucial to their chances of making it to the tournament in 2026 needing maximum points, and according to Osimhen it was largely the discussion he had with Chelle when they spoke following his appointment.
He will be the third coach of the team during the qualifiers taking over from the duo of Jose Peseiro and Austine Eguavoen who started the qualifiers handling two games each.
“I’ve spoken to him couple of times and clearly understand the objectives he has set for himself and for the players,” the Galatasary man said in an interview with BBC.
“It takes more than a coach to win football matches. Players must also be at their best, show commitment and bear in mind that we can all fly together to reach our goal.”
