Fears over the availability of Ademola Lookman for the senior national team of Nigeria when they return to action in the world cup qualifiers have been made clear by Italian Serie A side Atalanta, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Two days ago Lookman underwent tests after the blow he suffered in training ahead of their UEFA Champions League game against Barcelona. He departed the session with a knee problem. Latest report indicate that it is a distraction trauma to the right knee involving the lateral joint compartment.
There is no clarity yet on the next action the club will take regarding his case because they need him to see a specialist to be accurate with when he is expected to return. But many people familiar with his situation predict a three to four weeks absence, which means he is expected back in action by the end of February.
The expected timing of his return means he will likely be available for Nigeria in the world cup qualifiers games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively, allaying the concerns and fears of new coach Eric Chelle.
Chelle was already warming up to the idea that the talisman could miss the games, and will no doubt be excited with the latest report that has remove the doubts over his involvement in both games.
