Nigeria international defender Bruno Onyemaechi is close to finalizing a deal to join Greek side Olympiacos from troubled Portuguese side Boavista after a bid of €2.5m was accepted for his transfer, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Stuck at the basement of the league table, Boavista are in a financial mess and will need to sell players to stay afloat with reports of an imminent ban looming in a few months time.
Despite their issues this season, Bruno remains one of their standout players, a reputation which he enhanced with another goal over the weekend in their 2-3 loss to Casa Pia. It was his 3rd goal of the season.
That game could be his last in their colors as he is suspended for the weekend game against Sporting Braga, and with an imminent transfer set for conclusion he could be out of the club the next time he plays football at club level.
He is expected to put final touches to the move before next week ahead of a routine medical, before he will be officially unveiled as a player of the Europa Conference League champions.
