The newly appointed coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle says the team will aim to win all of their remaining six games in the world cup qualifiers which will see them make it to the tournament, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Chelle was unveiled as the new coach of the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and given the task of ensuring that the team qualify for the 2026 World Cup where they are presently 5th in their 6 team group.
Super Eagles are without a win in the four games they have played so far, and it has seen them fall to four points behind group leaders Rwanda who will be their next opponent when the qualifiers resumes in March.
They will return home from the game and take on Zimbabwe, and Chelle says a win in both games and the remaining of their games, starting from the away game to the league leaders is his immediate aim.

“The most important thing is not Eric Chelle or the players. The first goal is Nigeria, to qualify Nigeria. “We must win all six games. I’m focused on the next game, and after that, we will take it one step at a time.”
As part of what the team needs to do in order to make it to the world cup, he said having some rules in place that will keep the team focus will be key to achieving their aims in the qualifiers.
“You need to put in place strict rules around this team. We need to build a team with great spirit, motivate the players, talk to them like brothers, and impose our game everywhere”.
