German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen say they have open investigation into an alleged act of misconduct by Nigeria international forward Victor Boniface, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Boniface returned from international duty with Nigeria with a thigh injury which will likely keep him out for the rest of the year, and he could be in for more trouble if he is found guilty of misconduct.
Yesterday, a little bit more than a month after he was involved in a serious car crash, Boniface appeared in a video showing him on his phone while also driving 141km/h in an area where the speed limit is 120km/h.
The club has now issued a statement on the matter: “We are looking into the matter and checking it out. If the incident is confirmed, we will of course talk to Victor about it as soon as possible. After all, he’s not just a role model – it’s fundamentally about not endangering himself or other people on the road”.
