The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Austine Eguavoen has been forced into making a late change to the Super Eagles squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers game against Benin Republic and Rwanda respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Super Eagles will first of all be the guest of Benin at their adopted home ground in Cote d’Ivoire, where a draw will effectively seal their spot as group winners in the group, where they currently lead with ten points, after the decision by CAF to award them three points, three goals for their abandoned game against Libya.
A point from one of their two remaining games will seal their spot as group leaders, and also ensure they book a spot at the AFCON where they will be hoping for a better finish after finishing second behind host Cote d’Ivoire at the previous edition.
We can exclusively report that a change has been made to the list of players called up for the games , with Eguavoen replacing the injured Semi Ajayi in the original list of players which will be made public tomorrow by the media department of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Also we gathered that all invited players are expected to gather at their camp in Cote d’Ivoire for the first game against Benin Republic on the 14th of November, before making the trip back to Nigeria to round up the qualifiers at home against Rwanda in Uyo.
