The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has sent out provisional letters of invitation to 35 players who will be part of the Super Eagles squad for the AFCON qualifiers games against Libya in October, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
In line with FIFA’s directive of notifying clubs of the possible inclusion of their players in national team squads, the NFF sent out the letters to the players from which 24 of them will be picked in the final list for the games.
We gathered the players who were included are mostly from the pool that prosecuted the games against Benin Republic and Rwanda respectively this month, helping the team to pick up four points and also top spot in the group.
As many as five new players were either called up for the first time or handed a return to the team, and it includes the likes of the returning Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidera Ejuke and Jamilu Collins.
Meanwhile the new players per what we exclusively gathered is headed by Getafe midfielder Chrisantus Uche. His inclusion is a reward for his performances this season at the Spanish club he joined in the summer from their third side AD Cueta.
A final list of 24 players is expected to be made public one week to the game in Uyo on the 11th of October, with the second leg of the tie away in Libya four days later.
