Reports circulating in the United States of America has it that Nigeria international defender Chidozie Awaziem is closing in on a move to MLS side FC Cincinnati, OwnGoalNigeria.com understands.

The 27 year old will be joining the team from Portuguese side Boavista where he made 22 appearances last season. A form which earned him a spot in the team of the senior national team of Nigeria for the Africa Cup of Nations.

FC Cincinnati are in need of defensive reinforcement with Matt Miazga and Nick Hagglund out for the season as well as Miles Robinson leaving for Olympic duty next week.

It’s still not certain on the duration of the deal he has agreed with the club, where he will be reunited with former Nigeria U20 midfielder Obinna Nwobodo who has been on the books of the team for the last two seasons.
