Benjamin Fredrick got a taste of what it is to play for the first team of English Premier League side Brentford after seeing action in their 2-2 draw against Italian Serie B side Como in a test game, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Frederick joined the team in the summer from fast rising Nigeria football academy Simoiben Football Academy, after impressing for the Nigeria U20 team at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
He joined the B team on a year loan deal with the club having the option of making the deal permanent next summer. He has already started to make his way to the top at the club with his second straight appearance for the B team.
The 18 year old got 15 minutes of action in their 2-2 draw against Como in a closed door friendly. The game had several first team players of Brentford like in Ivan Toney, Neil Maupay , Mathias Jørgensen populary known as Zanka and Nigeria international Frank Onyeka in action.
Fredrick was introduced for Zanka in the game, which marks the return of the team’s top scorer Toney back to training as he nears the end of his eight months ban for breaching betting regulations. He scored the second goal with Onyeka supplying the assist with a well weighted cross field pass.
