Italian Serie A champions Napoli says they are seeking legal redress over the use of the image of their star striker Victor Osimhen in their colors without permission, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
All has not been rosy between the striker and the club lately following a post on their social media handle, where he was mocked for his penalty miss against Bologna in the Serie A.
The issue led to the resignation of the social media team of the club, who were forced to tender an apology to the Nigerian who also responded to the issue with a statement declaring his love for the club three days ago.
Another saga has now popped up with the club releasing a statement yesterday on seeking legal redress on the production of a children game named Cicciobello Bomber, where the image of the Nigerian in their colors was used as one of the characters. Below is the statement.
“With reference to the news, which appeared on numerous online information sites, relating to the imminent marketing of a children’s game called “Cicciobello Bomber” – a doll that reproduces the features of the player Victor Osimhen, portrayed wearing a uniform clearly referable to the shirt from the Club’s first team – the SSCN specifies that this is an unofficial product, the creation of which has not been authorized in any way by the Club.
“The Company has therefore taken steps to protect its interests in the appropriate places”
