The senior national team of Nigeria picked up their first win in four games by beating Guinea Bissau 1-0 in the reverse tie of the 0-1 loss they suffered in Abuja in the race to be at the next Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The lively Bright Osayi-Samuel ensured that Nigeria got a penalty when he left his marker for dead leaving him with no choice but to foul him in the box. Moses Simon stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot in the 30th minute for the opener.

Bright Osayi-Samuel – For the third straight game he can easily pass as the best player on the pitch for Nigeria. Won the penalty that led to the lone goal of the game. Solid in defence and also in attack when he ventures forward….. 8/10

Semi Ajayi – Very calm in possession and also timed his tackles to perfection. Distributed the ball nicely and wasn’t fazed at all . One of his best game for Nigeria….. 7/10
Kenneth Omeruo – Looked like his lack of pace will proved costly but made up for it with solid reading of the game and smart interceptions. A solid but not spectacular performance….. 6/10
Frank Onyeka – Lost possession thrice but overall gave the team balance to play with authority high up the pitch. A better performance than Ndidi who started the reverse tie in Abuja ….. 6/10
Alex Iwobi – His vision to pick out passes in tight areas helped the team to play through easily. On another day could have an assist. Still one of the best players over two legs against Guinea Bissau….. 7/10
Terem Moffi – Worked his socks off for the team. A better partner to Osimhen in attack than Onuachu. Although he didn’t threatened, he kept the defence on their toes all through….. 6/10
Moses Simon – A contender for Man of the Match. Ran the show on the left by defending and attacking based on the flow of the game. Took his penalty with ease and it ended as the winner….. 8/10
Samuel Chukwueze – Wasteful and indecisive in possession. For the second game running his decision making frustrates much more than the joy that his dribbling ability, which was once again on show. A poor performance by his standards….. 4/10
Victor Osimhen – He was flagged offside three times, came close to scoring with three chances. Unlucky to see one come off the woodwork but should have done better when he was played through twice in the box….. 7/10
Substitutes:
Joe Aribo – The only substitute worthy of a rating. Almost scored from a pass from Simon but met his match in the goalkeeper of the host. Yet to score against an African opposition…..5/10
