Scottish League One side Airdrieonians FC has officially confirmed the promotion of 17 year old Nigerian striker Bright Osemudiamen Prince Okosun, known simply as Bright Prince to the first team.

The club announced that he has been rewarded for his good form for the youth team with a permanent spot in the first team of the team even though he is just 17 years old. His record of 11 goals in 13 games showed he has outgrown that level.

Born in Spain to Nigerian parents, he has however said he is open to playing for Nigeria if they hand him a call up ahead of the other nations he is eligible to represent but Nigeria appears to be close to his heart.

Speaking on the ability of the forward who has caught the eyes of Nigeria U20 coach Ladan Bosso, the coach of the first team of Airdrieonians FC Rhys McCabe, said he is pleased to see Bright make the step up to the first team after less than a year at the club.

“Bright has done really well, as have a lot of the younger lads. He has good attributes in terms of offering something a little bit different to what we already have”, he said in an interview with the official website of the club .

“Being in and around the first-team environment on a daily basis and learning from older pros will help Bright in the long-term, and in the short term his signing helps to bolster the squad.”

Bright when asked said he is delighted to have taken this very important step in his career and will be committed to giving his best in order to help make his rise to the first team one to remember.

“Of course I’m very happy, it’s clearly a really good thing – you should be delighted if you’re good enough and you work hard enough to step up to men’s football”, he said

“Having played so many games and scored so many goals for the Academy gives you that burst of confidence that I probably need for the step up to first-team football.

“I’m delighted to be here and that the work-rate I’ve given has been rewarded”, he rounded up saying.
