The senior national team of Nigeria were forced to play with one of the three goalkeepers as a midfielder as they battle to overcome further depletion of the squad for tomorrow’s game against Cape Verde.
Coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr is already without the services of seven of the players who started the 2-0 win over Liberia with Ola Aina, William Ekong, Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi.
Oghenekaro Etebo who was introduced as a substitute will also miss the game. Few hours ago two more players in Samuel Kalu who was a substitute in Friday’s win was ruled out alongside full back option Tyronne Ebuehi for testing positive to coronavirus.
Rohr in today’s training session ahead of tomorrow’s game played goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi as an outfield player. A role he might likely be named with as one of the substitutes with Francis Uzoho on the bench as reserve goalkeeper.
