Hoffenheim of Germany defender Kevin Akpoguma won’t be part of the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers games per an announcement by his club.
The club announced that the defender has tested positive for Coronavirus hence won’t be joining up with the Nigerian team as he stay behind to quarantine despite the fact that he is displaying no symptoms at the moment.
In the statement , they also confirmed that all though he has taken the full vaccination, it’s still wise for him to follow the regular process of isolating before returning back to full activities.
He was expected to keep his spot as the right full back for the Nigerian team, same role he played over the weekend in the Bundesliga and grabbed an assist for his team in their 2-3 loss to Borussia Dortmund.
Unlike Frank Onyeka of Brentford who was replaced by Adekunle Adeleke after testing positive for coronavirus, early report has it that he won’t be replaced by another player.
