Nigeria international goalkeeper Matthew Yakubu has once again made the shortlist for goalkeeper of the month in Slovakia after a month of impressive performance.
The SKF Sered shot stopper conceded two goals in November which came in their 2-2 draw with Senica at the start of the month. Since then he has posted back to back clean sheets against Ruzomberok and AS Trencin.
Rated as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Slovakia, the 21 year old has firmly established himself as first choice after he was handed the gloves following a 6-1 thrashing at the start of the season.
He has since gone ahead to train with the senior national team of Nigeria but wasn’t in goal for any of their two friendly games against Algeria and Tunisia respectively.
Praised by coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr after excelling In training, he was however surprisingly omitted from the list of players for the last round of international games which was the back to back AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
