Former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike has accused the Nigerian Football Federation of imposing players on late Stephen Keshi when the Big Boss was in charge of the Nigeria National team, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Emenike lended his voice to the conversation about alleged bribery in the national team. The former Fenerbache attacker featured prominently in Nigeria’s AFCON winning team of 2013 that was led by the late Stephen Keshi.
Speaking about bribes for national team places, he said “most of the times these things happen, it comes from someone in the NFF. I won’t say anything about Keshi (RIP) but you can’t defend anybody. Remember also sometimes also they brought players to Keshi and said this person must play”.
Chinedu Obasi was first to publicly come out with claims of bribe in the national team and a host of players and coaches have reacted both in support and against him.
Emenike noted that there is need for a rebirth in Nigeria football saying a lot of unsavoury activities abound in the system. “To be honest our football needs to change because a lot of things are going on. The problem is people do things and they get away with it. People should go to jail.”
Emenike was top scorer at the 2013 AFCON as his four goals helped Nigeria pick gold at the tourney.
