Tyronne Ebuehi has been given a lifeline to get his career up and running at Portuguese side Benfica after making a full recovery from the various injuries and fitness issues that have kept him out of the first team picture since joining the team two years ago.
Ebuehi suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during pre season with Benfica months after sealing a move to the team on a free transfer from Dutch side ADO Den Haag and since then he has been out of the team base on fitness issues.
A start for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia, he made a full recovery before the start of the season but was demoted to the B team in order for him to build up his match fitness after another set back which kept him out for three months.
He has seven appearances for the B team before the lockdown in Portugal brought about the suspension of football activities in the country, a not too impressive tally considering that they have played 34 matches already this season. His last game came in December.
Despite his battle to stay fit, the 24 year old was denied the chance to join Polish side Slask Wroclaw on loan in January with the club keen on having him around to properly monitor his return to full fitness ahead of next season.
The plan is to have him fit and ready for pre season ahead of the start of next season as he still very much in the plans of the club who have so far ruled out any chance of a loan move for him next season.
