16 year old Borussia Dortmund defender Nnamdi Collins who recently signed a three years contract extension has been approached by the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Collins is widely regarded as one of the best young defender in Germany where he has played for the national team at U17 level. He reportedly rejected a move to Chelsea to remain at Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea reportedly offered the player and his family more money than Dortmund but he decided against a move to England as he believe he will progress better in Germany where he has been promoted to the U19 ahead of schedule and also will train with the first team when football resumes from the coronavirus crisis.
Rohr reportedly messaged the 16 year old to congratulate him on his contract extension and also encourage him to continue to work hard in order to break into the first team of the German side.
The move is viewed as a way of telling the talented defender that he is under the watch of Nigeria as in the future he could be an option to Rohr who now want to make sure players are approached a lot earlier before they become first team regulars.
