Lazio’s 21 year old forward Bobby Adekanye says for now he is not considering a switch of allegiance to Nigeria from the Netherlands as he has not been contacted by the football authority in Nigeria, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
A youth international for the Netherlands, he has represented them from U16 to U20 level with the last of his appearance coming in November 2019 when he played in a 3-2 win over Mexico in a friendly game. His only appearance so far for the Netherlands at that level.
Now established as a squad player at Serie A side Lazio, the 21 year old who joined the team from Liverpool has made seven appearances in all competitions this season with one goal and one assist to his name so far.
Just like Tyronne Ebuehi, Kingsley Ehizibue and William Troost-Ekong he was asked if he will take up the option of switching allegiance to Nigeria in the future and he responded by saying for now it’s not an option.
” It’s the Netherlands for me. I have only read about interest from Nigeria on the internet but nothing has happened officially because there have been no contact so far with Nigeria “, he told Owngoalnigeria.com in response to a message on social media.
