Kelechi Nwakali international future with the senior national team of Nigeria is still very much alive despite the fact that he is struggling to make an impact at club level, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Nwakali is yet to play a game at club level for over one year since he last turned out for the B team of FC Porto on the 17th of March last year while on loan from Arsenal.
Last summer he joined Huesca on a permanent deal but visa issues meant his debut was delayed and when he finally got the necessary documents to play for the second division Spanish side his fitness wasn’t up to the required level.
However with the break caused by the coronavirus outbreak, he has built up his fitness level and when the league resumes, there’s every chance of the midfielder getting into the Nigerian team as Rohr believe he need regular run of games to be at his best.
” Rohr likes Nwakali very well he is very creative and unpredictable. The only thing he need is regular playing time which he was enjoying before the game against Atletico Madrid. It’s clear to see that on that day he was mercurial. I don’t think he has been at that level. As soon as he gets regular run of games he will surely make it back”, a backroom staff of the Super Eagles told Owngoalnigeria.com.
