Manchester United legend Gary Neville has advised Manchester United against spending €20million on Nigerian forward when his loan deal at the club expires at the end of the season, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
30 year old Ighalo joined the team in January from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua and he has so far proved his worth in the few games that he has played so far before the outbreak of coronavirus as he has scored four goals in eight games.
Talks about signing him permanently is believed to have taken place with his Chinese team insisting on £20m for the forward, a fee Neville believe is too much for the Nigerian in the wake of the financial crisis caused by the halting of games due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nigerian who is a fan of the club is however keen on remaining at Old Trafford and he is hopeful that a deal will be reached between both parties at the end of the season even though reports suggest that his Chinese team expect him to return before the start of the new season.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Neville answered a question on Ighalo’s future. ‘Is ighalo worth £20m?’ said Neville. ‘Probably not in this market. He may have been if he continued before scoring goals but you probably don’t need now to spend £20m’.
