On loan Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo is yet to know where he will be playing next season following the expiration of his loan deal with Spanish side Leganes at the end of the LaLiga season, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Omeruo was ever present for Levante since from when he made his debut after missing the first five games of the season and his performance earned him back to back team of the week nominations.
He was pivotal in helping Leganes beat the drop to the second division in Spain but despite the success of his loan spell, Leganes are yet to open talks with Chelsea over signing him permanently as contained in the deal that brought him to the club on loan last season.
The silence on the part of the Spanish team won’t bother the defender as he won’t be short of suitors when teams start strengthening for next season, particularly if he gets sufficient playing time for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
At the World Cup in Russia he was part of the back three played by coach Gernot Rohr in the Eagles second and third group games against Iceland and Argentina respectively as they crash out of the group stage.
It is widely believed that if Rohr decides to play same formation then he will be the third central defender alongside the duo of William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun who are the preferred options in central defence as a pair.
