Ex England International Fashanu – Tammy Abraham Silently Regrets Turning Down Nigeria

On loan Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham made a mistake he is probably regretting right now by snubbing the chance to switch allegiance to Nigeria according to former England international John Fashanu, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.

Last year the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) announced his decision to switch allegiance to the Super Eagles but the forward dispelled the story as false insisting on playing for England, where he is a youth international.

However since his debut for the senior team in 2017 , he is yet to get another chance despite his fine form this season for English Championship side Aston Villa where he has 25 goals this season.

Although he is still eligible to play for Nigeria, Fashanu says he would have enjoyed a steady rise in his career if he didn’t snub Nigeria as he would have played at the World Cup in Russia for the Super Eagles, which will no doubt improve his career rating.

“25 goals in the Championship is a very good return but I don’t think the top teams in Europe will take a gamble on him because of that. If he had played for Nigeria at the World Cup he probably would have been on the radar of several clubs. It’s a move I believe he silently regrets but then he is still young and may yet have a good international career with England “, he concluded.
