Coach of the Nigerian football Olympic team Imama Amapakabo is not losing sleep over today’s encounter against Libya despite his team facing a not too easy task of trying to wipe out the 0-2 loss they suffered in the first leg on Wednesday.
Imama explained that his team now has full knowledge of the Libyan team and also their players, tactics and formation, something they didn’t know too well before the first leg tie.
“In Tunisia, we knew very little about this Libyan team. But I think now, we have a clear picture; we know exactly how the Libyan team is. We knew their formation and tactics but we didn’t know the personnel behind it.
“But right now, I think we have a clear picture of who they are, how they function, how individual players react tactically and the technical strength of the team. I think it is a plus for us”, he said after his team had their final training session yesterday.
Speaking further he said overturning a 0-2 deficit is one of the easiest task in football before charging his wards to score early as it will change the total complexion of the game.
The coach said sticking to their tactical formation and positions on the pitch will also aid their chances of scoring the goals they need to progress to the next round of the qualifiers for the U23 Cup of Nations.
“In football, everything is possible and I think a 2-0 scoreline is one of the easiest scorelines to overturn in football coming from my experience of the game, because we need any early goal to change the complexion of the game completely.
“We need to score first, we need to score again and we need to score again. And God-willing, I think we are putting everything within our powers. I think we will qualify.
“If we stick to our tactical position, and if it works out for us, we would be able to score enough goals to make us qualify.”
