Belgium top division side Gent have secured the services of 20 year old Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi on a season long loan deal from English Premier League side Liverpool.

Awoniyi recently signed a new long term contract at Liverpool and the move to Gent is seen as the next step in his career with Liverpool keen on him playing more games to aid his development.

A deal to Gent has been on for a while but Liverpool were focused on tying him down to a long term deal before agreeing for him to go out on loan with Monaco, Standard Liege, Anderlecht and Club Brugge all sounding him out.

His goal tally of eleven goals for modest side Mouscron made top club to push for his loan signing but Gent have now secured him as first reported by Owngoalnigeria.com two months ago before his contract extension.
