Ndidi Handed Extra Match Ban For Second Red Card Of The Season, Could Receive Extra Punishment
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Wilfred Ndidi will serve a two match ban for picking up two bookings which lead to his dismissal in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Brighton over the weekend in the English Premier League.

Two minutes before full time Ndidi caught Brighton’s Shane Duffy with a late tackle which earned him his second booking of the game and dismissal as well.

The red card shown to the 21 year old Nigerian is his second of the season, and it automatically triggers an extra match suspension instead of the one game ban for accumulative bookings in a game.

He was first sent off this season on the 16th of December last year, when Leicester City got a 3-0 bashing at the hands of Crystal ‎Palace. The red card was the first of his professional career.

There could be more trouble for the midfielder who has won more tackles this season, if the English FA decide to charge him for not leaving the pitch on time following his dismissal.

Ndidi refused to walk away and protested his innocence after he was booked for the second time against Brighton ‎insisting on Duffy making the most of a tackle which doesn’t warrant a card.

His refusal to leave the pitch immediately following his dismissal could see him pick an extra game ban, if found guilty by the FA, although they are yet to charge him.
