Wilfred Ndidi will be the subject of a mammoth bid from Liverpool in the summer if they lose midfielder Emre Can who has refused to sign a contract extension in the summer, according to several informed sources.

Can is widely tipped to leave Liverpool in the summer, when he will be out of contract and the club have already set up plans to make up for his departure by sounding out Leicester City Wilfred Ndidi.

Ndidi has grown in leaps and bounds since joining the Foxes from Genk of Belgium, and he is currently rated as one of the best defensive midfielder in England, with his ball winning rate the best among all midfielders in the Premier League.

Coach of Liverpool Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the Nigeria international and a bid in the region of £30-40m is rumoured to be readied for him in the summer if Can leaves.

Leicester City will however demand a fee higher than what Liverpool are reportedly set to offer, especially if the Nigerian emerges as one of the stars of the World Cup later in the year in Russia.

Sources close to Ndidi are however of the opinion that he wants to remain in England, and a move away is currently not among his immediate plans but probably in the future.
