The proposed amendment of the rules governing the switch of nationality from one country to another has received a strong backing from the English FA, according to Owngoalnigeria.com Michael James.

FIFA is currently looking into reviewing the rule on players with dual or multiple nationality who are keen on switching allegiance to another country, and so many proposals are currently under consideration.

England who have been worst hit of late with Wilfred Zaha switching allegiance to the Ivory Coast and the duo of Ola Aina and Alex Iwobi ‎pledging their future to Nigeria despite representing England at youth level.

” The FA are well in support of it, sources from the FA told me they were excited when FIFA initiated move to amend the rule governing players international switch. They have been worst hit because they spend a lot in developing the game from the grassroot level.

” If the rule on countries paying training grant to other countries where the players were raised go through. They will profit it from it the most although they prefer a situation where the rule would be made stiffer than receiving compensation “, James who works for Owngoalnigeria.com in England revealed.

” Nigeria have not made things easy for England, Iwobi and Aina is still a source of anger for most people at the FA. Then there’s the issue of Seyi Ojo, Tammy Abraham, Ademola Lookman and Josh Onomah, these are players who were educated in the system with tax payers money.

” I had a chat with a top official of the FA and he told me they can’t wait for the reforms to kick in. It’s long overdue to them although they know a final decision won’t come as swift as expected”.
