The reason behind the benching of Nigeria goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi by PSL side Chippa United has been revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com by well respected Nigerian football personality Mohammed Lawal.
Lawal told Owngoalnigeria.com in a chat that the 31 year old is still the first choice goalkepper of the team as football is not the reason why he has missed their last two games against Orlando Pirates and Amazulu FC.
He explained that the red card picked up by the shot stopper towards the end of last season is the reason why he missed their first opening two games of the season as he is suspended.
Speaking further Lawal said the shot stopper who is in the squad of Nigeria for their upcoming back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon is no doubt in good shape to man the post for Nigeria if he is picked by coach Gernot Rohr.
