The international future of Chelsea upcoming defender Ola Aina is far from resolved despite the start of the process of his international switch from England to Nigeria.

England youth international Aina has already written to FIFA to start the process of his international switch, but it’s still unclear if it will be processed before Nigeria’s game against South Africa on the 10th of June.

The process of his switch is not as straightforward as many anticipated as it involves series of communication between the Nigeria FA, FIFA and the English FA.

Already Aina has taken the first step by telling England and FIFA of his intention to switch allegiance to Nigeria. FIFA will write to England, who are then suppose to send Aina’s papers to the Nigerian FA.

England need to transfer his registration to Nigeria by sending his papers, which Nigeria will now send to FIFA for procession, which usually takes ten days to complete barring international games.

For now, the speed at which England transfer his international registration to Nigeria, will determine his involvement in Nigeria’s game against South Africa in June.
