Bar the club of Joseph Akpala, Nigerian players playing in the Belgium Cup suffered defeats with their respective teams in the various games played yesterday.

Akpala was an unused substitute as KV Oostende send Gent packing from the Cup with a 1-0 win despite the presence of Anderson Esiti widely regarded as the strongest Nigerian player at the moment.

Esiti nicknamed “The Tank” by the press in Belgium for his physical attributes was on for the entire duration of the game, while his fellow Nigerians at the club were introduced as substitutes at different intervals.

Moses Simon was introduced in the 74th minute while Rabiu Ibrahim came on in the 81st minute, but both of them fail to inspire a comeback for Gent.
