A late strike from Desire Oparanozie was all the Super Falcons of Nigeria needed to beat tournament host the Lioness of Cameroon 1-0 in the final of the Africa Women Championship.

Cameroon were guilty of poor finishing when they had the chance to take the lead in the final watched by a capacity crowd, which included the President of Cameroon Paul Biya.

While Nigerian shot stopper Alaba Jonathan was the busier of the two goalkeppers, it was her opposite number who was made to pick the ball out of her net for the only goal of the game.

Oparanozie showed the composure that made her a feared force in African female football by picking up a loose headed clearance in the Cameroonian box, before evading her marking and beat the goalkepper with a low left foot shot.
