Dream Team VI Star Defender Troost-Ekong Nets Second Goal Of The Season In Norway

One of the star performance for the bronze medal winning Nigeria U23s at the Rio 2016 Olympics William Troost Ekong, followed up his superb showing at the games with his second goal of the season for his Norwegian side FK Haugesund.

The 22 year old was rewarded for his strong performance for Nigeria at the Olympics with a call up to the Nigeria senior national team, ahead of next week dead rubber AFCON 2017 qualifiers against Tanzania.

He celebrated his call up with a goal in the five goal thriller against Brann which ended 3-2 in favour of his team, SK Haugesund where he is on loan from Belgian side Gent.

Ekong found the back of the net in the first minute of time added on, after the regulation time of 45 minutes in the first half to draw his side level going into the half time break.

Before his goal against Brann, he first found the back of the net in their 3-0 win over Aalesund on the 19th of March. His first professional goal since turning professional in 2013, with spells at Dutch club Groningen and Dordrecht under his belt before his move to Norway.

Appointed captain of the team just before the start of the season, he isn’t the only Nigerian at the team with Izuchukwu Anthony and Shuaibu Ibrahim completing the Nigerian trio at the club.
