Nigeria Under-23s invitee Theophilus Solomon, announced his arrival at his new club with a goal on his debut, on an historic day for his loan side NK Istra who were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Lokomotiva Zagreb.

Solomon joined Istra on Wednesday on loan from Rijeka, and it came as a shock when the 20 year old was named in the starting line up against Lokomotiva Zagreb in Istra’s historic 100th game.

The Nigerian went into the record books after just 24 minutes, when he gave his side the lead but had to be substituted few minutes later, following a nasty kick to his ankle which he failed to shake off after treatment by the sideline.

He however told Owngoalnigeria.com in a chat after the game, that the injury isn’t as bad as initially feared, and he is very much in contention to play in their next game against Hadjuk Split.

Hadjuk Split were his preferred destination according to his guardian Mohammed Suleiman, before he penned an extension with Rijeka which his guardian insist he was forced to sign, following threats by the hierarchy of the club.

Last season while on loan at second division side NK Sibenik, he scored 11 goals but missed the final game of their promotion play offs to the first division with an injury, and in his absence they failed to secure promotion to the top flight.
