The chances of Enyimba FC of Aba scaling through the group stage of the CAF Champions League has taken a big hit after their second consecutive defeat following a 1-2 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in their second group game.

Two time winners of the CAF Champions League Enyimba fell 0-1 at home to Zamalek of Egypt in their first group game and started off on the wrong footing against Mamelodi Sundowns by conceding a goal three minutes from the half time break scored by Leonardo Castro.

Enyimba returned from the half time break needing to overturn Sundowns one goal lead and 16 minutes into the half Dare Ojo leveled for Enyimba with his trademark long range effort similar to the one he scored against Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Mfon Udoh almost gave Enyimba the lead a minute after their equaliser but the all time top scorer in the history of the Nigeria Professional Football League sent his header wide.

Moses Ocheje had to be alert in the 66th minute to stop a goal bound effort for Castro who was angling for his second of the game and with the game widely open Udoh once again got close to scoring reacting quickly to Nzube’s effort which was cleared off the line but his effort was blocked by the goalkepper of Sundowns.

Enyimba were once again guilty of some slack defending failing to clear their box properly allowing Wayne Arendse to bundle home Sundowns second goal of the game which took the scores to 2-1 in their favour.
