Enyimba FC of Aba are presently struggling to keep their dreams of qualifying for the knock out stage of the CAF Champions League with the Aba side currently trailing South Africa representative Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0.

The champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League lost their first game at home against Zamalek FC at home in Porthacourt last week.

The home team started the game on a sound note with Khama having the first shot at goal in the 5th minute which sailed inches wide after a quick break from the flanks.

Enyimba produced a quick respond with Ifeanyi Onuigbo releasing a well hit shot which forced the Sundown’s keeper into making the first save of the game in the 13th minute and few minutes later Onuigbo went close again with a header.

Six minutes after the half hour mark left full back Chima Akas let fly a long range effort which sailed wide of Sundown’s goal before a last ditch piece of smart defending stopped Christian Pyagbara from giving Enyimba the lead in the 40th minute.

However just when it appears Enyimba were on the ascendancy a defensive blunder caused by ball watching defender let Castro slip in to give Sundowns a 1-0 lead against the run of play just two minutes to the half time break.

Castro was left unmarked and he had the simplest of tap in which pegged scores at 1-0 in favour of the host as both teams head into the dressing room for the half time break.
