Bnei Yehuda are ahead of two other Israeli side in the race to sign Maccabi Haifa of Israel summer acquisition Ubong Ekpai, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Ekpai is been sent out on a one year loan by Maccabi Haifa due to a new rule in Israeli football compelling clubs not to have more than six players in each team and Maccabi recent three signings are foreigners which means they have to let some ago.
Owngoalnigeria.com can reveal that despite efforts from Hapoel Haifa, Ekpai is most likely to join Dele Aiyenugba at Bnei Yehuda according to sources close to the player who shot to prominence after scoring the lone goal for Nigeria U-23s in a friendly game that gave Nigeria a 1-0 win over Brazil in Rio.
Aside Bnei Yehuda and other Israeli teams, a move to outside Europe is also on the card for the forward who was a shock omission from Nigeria’s U-23 35 man provisional list for the Olympics.
” He will most likely join Aiyenugba at Bnei Yehuda if he stays in Israel but nothing is agreed yet and there is still the possibility of him heading to another team outside Isreal all options are open for now but a move to Bnei Yehuda is more likely” a source told Owngoalnigeria.com
